Improv allows me self expression. Instantaneous, absolute expression.
No longer am I limited to what I prepare and the peculiarities of my rehearsal time.
Time for the bullet points,
So why improv?
- Allows adaption of 'product' to audience; high brow or hoodies
- Liberated self expression
- Develops transferrable skills
- Pressure
Why not improv?
- Devalues creative outcome
- Unsuitable for masses vocational environments
- Lack of revenue stream
- Difficult to critique
Over the next couple of days im going to flesh out these thoughts.

This blog category is going to record my personal exploration of the boundaries between composition and improvisation.
Issues and Question I intend to address are;
When does improvisation become composition?
When does composition become improvisation?
Can I compose and improvise at the same time?
What happens to the performer?
Is improvisation important, significant?
What role does improvisation play outside of art?
What about the academic, audience and critic?
These explorations will occur alongside my own performance practice, improvisation activities and compositional musings.
